Episode #150: Climate and Energy

This episode’s guest is Margot Paez. Margot is a PhD candidate in the civil engineering department at Georgia Institute of Technology. She has an MS in physics from GT and works on climate change statistical-based modeling, primarily in relation to water resources.

Margot is also a passionate Bitcoiner that comes to the space from a progressive viewpoint. Recently she challenged Alex Epstein to a debate on his stance around Fossil Fuels and they are currently looking for a venue to host the debate.

This episode we discuss the challenges of modeling climate and I let Margot respond to some of the common criticisms to climate science. We talk about the common misconceptions around Bitcoin mining and how it can have a positive impact on reducing CO2 emissions. Lastly, we try to find common ground in the energy debate and possible solutions to avoiding a more chaotic climate future.
